The quest
Pick any book of the Bible and start there. Every chapter is a level: work through its verses one at a time, then prove the chapter is yours with a mastery review, typed from memory. Progress is kept per book. It saves on this device; create a free account and it saves to the cloud and follows you to any device. Free forever.
Just visiting?
Try the original five-verse sample quest: John 3:16-17 and Psalm 23:1-3. It does not touch your saved progress.
Finish every verse to unlock the Chapter Mastery review. Type the whole chapter from memory at 90% or better to open the next chapter.
About the game
The whole game on one page: the learning loop, the systems that keep you coming back, the rules of the quest, and where it is all going. Playing happens on the book shelf; this page is just the tour.
The learning loop
Every verse travels through a five-step loop proven by memory science. Each pass makes the next one easier, until the verse is yours, and every verse level ends the same way: you type the whole verse from memory.
Meet the verse. Read it aloud or let the app speak it, then tap to reveal and lock it in.
The first recall step, and the gentlest: the verse shows its blanks, and every missing word waits below as a bubble. Tap the bubble that fits each blank, in verse order.
The same missing words are now hiding in a letter grid below the verse. Find them in any order you like: each one flies home into its own blank.
Only the first letters remain. Rebuild each word from its first letter, one more scaffold on the way to recall.
The finale of every verse level: one box per word, and you type the whole verse from memory. Correct words lock in and carry you to the next box; a wrong word shakes, clears, and counts as a correction. Corrections are allowed here: this is a lesson, not the exam.
Game systems
The same hooks that make language apps addictive, tuned for a lifetime of Scripture.
Show up daily to keep your flame alive. Miss a day and the flame dims, never shames.
Every correct answer earns XP. Level up from Seeker to Scribe to Scholar of the Word.
Three hearts per lesson. Mistakes cost one, and running out simply means a fresh run at that verse level with hearts restored. Nothing else is lost.
Start with any of the 66 books. Inside a book the path is sequential: verses unlock one by one, and each chapter you master opens the next.
Every chapter ends with a typing gate: reproduce each verse from memory. Score 90% or better to pass, 100% for a Word Perfect gold star.
Your XP, streak, and every finished level save automatically. As a guest they save on this device; create a free account and they save to the cloud and follow you to any device.
How the journey works
Four layers, all of them live right now. Choose a book, and its chapters become your levels. Inside each chapter, one level per verse walks you through the five-step learning loop. Finish the verses and the chapter's mastery review unlocks: type every verse from memory to open the next chapter.
Start anywhere: Genesis, John, Psalms, Revelation. Each book keeps its own independent progress.
Every chapter of every book is a level on your path, from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22.
One level per verse, each running the learning loop: Read and Listen, Word Bubbles, Word Search, First-Letter Recall, and a Type It From Memory finale.
One typing gate per chapter. 90% passes and unlocks the next chapter; 100% earns Word Perfect.
Where this goes
Honest labels: what is live right now says so, and everything still coming is marked planned.
All 66 books, 1,189 chapter levels, 31,102 verse levels, and 1,189 type-from-memory mastery reviews. Every book has its own page with its author, its story, and its artwork.
Free accounts save your progress to the cloud so it follows you to any device, and the game installs onto a phone home screen like an app: full screen, no browser bars, and the books you have opened keep working offline. A Forgot password flow is built in, because real people forget passwords.
An FSRS-style review queue, so mastered verses resurface right before they would fade. Memorizing is the quest; keeping them is the sequel.
More Bible translations alongside the KJV, recorded audio read-aloud for every verse, and book bosses: one bigger challenge waiting at the end of each book.
Church groups, family leaderboards, and pastor-curated reading plans for congregations.
Rules of the quest
No fine print, no gotchas. This is exactly how the game judges your progress, the same rules the Finisher tee is earned under.
Every verse level runs the learning loop: read the verse, tap its missing words home in word bubbles, hunt them again in a word search (any order you like; wrong stretches cost nothing, searching is exploration), and rebuild words from their first letters. Then it finishes with Type It From Memory: one box per word, typed from memory. Correct words lock in and carry you straight to the next box. A wrong word shakes, clears, and counts as a correction, and corrections are allowed: the verse is complete when you have typed it all the way through. This step is a lesson, not an exam, so there is no percentage grade on a verse.
Each verse level starts with three hearts, and a mistake costs one, in the learning steps and in the typing finale alike. Peeking at the verse costs one too (see Hints and peeks). Run out anywhere in the level and that verse level starts over from its first step with all three hearts restored: a fresh run at the verse, no shame in it. Verses you already finished and XP already banked are never touched.
Stuck on a word? In word bubbles, first-letter recall, and the typing finale, the Hint button offers three choices for the word you are on. The right choice fills the word in as helped: no heart lost and the run never breaks, but a helped word does not count as clean recall, so a run with helped words is complete without being a clean run. Any recall step, the word search included, also offers Peek at the verse: the whole verse for three seconds, at the price of one heart. Chapter mastery, the exam, offers neither: nothing may cue a from-memory answer there.
Finish every verse in a chapter and its mastery review unlocks: type the whole chapter from memory, verse by verse. Score 90% or better across the chapter to pass and open the next chapter. Your best score on each verse is kept, so retrying a weak verse can only help.
A chapter earns Word Perfect when every verse is typed clean: full marks with no corrected words anywhere. Small typos forgiven on a first try still count; a word you had to correct does not. Shaky verses can be replayed with Retry the misses, by typing or with word magnets. A magnet repair counts toward the 90% pass, but never toward Word Perfect: perfect is typing-only.
Correct answers earn XP as you play, finishing a verse level earns more, and the first time you pass a chapter mastery you earn a bonus: 50 XP, or 100 XP for a Word Perfect run. Playing on a new day keeps your streak alive, and streak milestones pay bonus XP of their own: 250 XP at 7 days, 1,000 XP at 30 days, and 5,000 XP at 100 days, each one paid once when you reach it.
Complete all 31,102 verse levels and pass all 1,189 chapter mastery reviews at 90% or better, and you have earned the Finisher tee: free, mailed to you, one per finisher. It cannot be bought, only earned. There are no proctors and no timers: the game runs on the honor system, and every claim is reviewed by a human against the finisher's saved progress before a shirt is printed.
Mission first
The core memorization loop will always be free. No paywalled verses, no subscriptions to read the Word. Premium extras may one day fund the servers, but the quest itself belongs to everyone.
All verse text is the King James Version, firmly in the public domain, so this app can share it freely with the whole world.
No account needed to play: just press play. And if you'd like your progress to follow you from phone to computer, a free account saves it as you go.
